Going to aerate this weekend and the seed is going down. Which fertilizer, winter or new seed? In addition, should I roll the lawn after I seed and fertilize?
Also, is there any major difference between the BB product and the BB Ultra product? I see Ultra covers less per bag but will I notice a difference in the spring when this stuff shows up?
Northeast NY here.

Thank you for your message. You can use either Winter Survival or New Seeding Lawn Fertilizer this fall. Both are good choices this fall. It does help to press the seed into the soil after applying to make sure it has good seed to soil contact. Just be sure the seed is not covered more than a quarter of an inch with soil. Black Beauty contains three turf type tall fescue grass seed varieties. Black Beauty Ultra has the same three turf type tall fescues plus 10% Madison Kentucky Bluegrass and 10% Frontier Perennial Ryegrass. Either one would work well as a fall overseeding. If you have a choice we would recommend the Black Beauty Ultra. The Kentucky Bluegrass will help to fill in any damaged areas in the lawn and the Perennial Ryegrass will germinate quicker than the Tall Fescue so you will see some growth sooner.
