I just bought a new home and the previous home owners didn't take care of the lawn to well. Last weekend I had the grass power raked, cut down, and aerated. After that I put down some magical, Black Beauty Seed, and starter fertilizer (Been water 3 times a day for about 10 mins). Around October 26 I plan on cutting down the grass to about 3" and adding more starter fertilizer. Then around 3-4 weeks later I was going to cut the lawn down to 2" and add winter feed, magical (had the PH level tested and it was 5.5), and then some lover your soil.
Am I going in the right direction?
Have any advice? Am I putting down to much fertilizer.

Hi Doug- You are off to a good start. Now that you have seeded we would recommend not cutting the grass until it reaches 3-4 inches high. You do not want to cut it too soon or you risk hurting the new seedlings. We recommend waiting 6-8 weeks between fertilizer applications so you should only have to do one more application at the end of October/early November. You can do the Winter Survival and Mag-I-Cal at that time that is a great idea. Do not add more starter fertilizer or you will over fertilize. Also be sure you do not overwater the lawn. It wants approximately one inch of water per week either through irrigation or rainfall. For more information please visit: http://www.jonathangreen.com/index.cfm/news/id/1767/
