Lawn Spotty

I live in North Florida in zone 9 and I have had some problems with my yard. My backyard isn't large but has a variety of trees on the lot which shade the yard most of the day until the sunsets when part of the yard gets blasted with the setting sun. My grass is patchy, possibly from this, or something else, I'm not sure. I want to fix the grass in the backyard, which is also starting to become overrun with some type of broadleaf weed, a version of sorel. I don't know what to do. Any help is greatly appreciated!

RE: Lawn Spotty

Hi Sam - We would suggest you visit your local garden center and ask them what would be a good grass seed mixture for your area. Unfortunately our grass seed mixtures are for cool season and would not hold up in the Florida heat. The best place to start is to take a soil test and see if your soil pH needs adjusting. Poor soil can cause an unsightly lawn. Good luck!
