Product Overview
Jonathan Green Lawn Fungus Control is a broad spectrum granular fungicide that combats turf diseases. Use this product as a preventative measure in areas where fungus has been a problem in the past to stop it from recurring. In preventative instances, the lighter rate will be enough. Once the disease occurs, however, a heavier curative rate is likely to be needed.

Please bear in mind that Jonathan Green Lawn Fungus Control can only prevent or stop the disease from spreading—it will not repair the damage which has already happened. In such cases, re-seeding will be necessary to replace the damaged grass and thicken the lawn.

  • Can I treat lawn fungus and insects at the same time?

Yes, however, it is important to remember to carefully follow all product recommendations and package directions prior to application.

If you want to prevent lawn fungus and grub/insect infestations, we suggest applying Jonathan Green Lawn Fungus Control first, then applying Grub & Insect Control second, and water it in immediately.

If you are applying Organic Insect Control, apply the Lawn Fungus Control first and water it in, then apply the Organic Insect Control after the lawn is dry.

  • Apply Lawn Fungus Control and Love Your Soil for warm weather fungus.

Lawn Fungus Control is a systemic fungicide for both preventative and curative treatments. Fungus is seen most often at temperatures of 80°F when humidity levels are very high. It spreads through mycelia, which “jump” from spot to spot. Mycelia uses water and moisture to move throughout the lawn. Therefore, water in the morning and NOT at night to ensure that water doesn’t stay on the leaves for too long. Mycelia look like spider webs on the lawn, which appear before damage occurs. If you see these “webs” then apply Lawn Fungus Control. Applying Love Your Soil on the same day will increase water penetration into the soil. This will limit the “swimming” of mycelia and allow your fungicide treatment to be more effective.

  • Can I apply Lawn Fungus Control with other products?

    Yes.

Lawn Fungus Control can be applied at the same time that you apply any turf products, including grass seed mixtures. Each application of Jonathan Green’s Lawn Fungus Control will provide effective turf disease control for up to twenty-one days. It works systemically from inside the grass plant to control leaf spot, dollar spot, striped smut, fusarium blight, patch and mold diseases in addition to more than twenty one other turf diseases.

  • Dog vomit fungus and other mushrooms

Dog vomit fungus (and mushrooms in general) is indicative of something rotting in the subsoil; perhaps a tree stump or a dead animal. Fully remove the mushrooms and discard them. To manage mushrooms, aeration is necessary to break up the existing dense fungal mat of mycelia.

    How to remove mushrooms:

    • Determine the depth of the fungal mat with a trowel or shovel.
    • Remove mushroom cores at least ¼ to 1 inch in diameter slightly deeper than the fungal mat.
    • You may have to aerate these areas a number of times each year to break up the fungal mat and improves water and air penetration into the soil
    • To completely eradicate mushrooms, you may need to remove the soil to a depth of 12 to 18 inches.
    • Refill the trench with fresh soil and reseed the area.
    • Be careful not to infest any surrounding areas with the contaminated soil!
    • Apply Love Your Soil to help the grass to grow and thrive; this hastens the breakdown of organic matter.

Note: New sod lawn installations require frequent irrigation and sometimes promote the growth of mushrooms. The mushrooms do not harm the lawn and will disappear when irrigation is reduced.
