I have had excellent success with the entire Jonathan Green 4-step program. My local nursery told me it is a better formula than Scotts for folks who live in the colder climates like New England.

In response to the last review it is best to water in the Crabgrass Preventer plus Green-Up Lawn Fertilizer after applying. You could also wait and apply right before a rainfall to help maximize the weed control. - Jonathan Green

In response to the January 16th post - According to the label on this product you must wait 4 months before applying any grass seed. If you do need to seed this spring we recommend seeding first. Wait until the new grass has been mowed 2-3 times and then apply the Crabgrass Preventer sometime in mid spring. Since it contains Dimension it controls crabgrass both before and after it germinates. This will give you the grass you want and the control you are looking for without having to wait until next fall. Thank you, Jonathan Green

In response to the May 11, 2014 post - Most likely you were not seeing crabgrass this early in your area. Crabgrass does not begin to germinate until the soil temperature (not air temp) is at least 55 degrees consistently and this has been a very late spring. If you want to do a second application we would recommend using our new Crabgrass & Weed Preventer around the end of May/beginning of June. Thank you, Jonathan Green

In response to the May 15th review - Crabgrass does not begin to germinate until the soil temperature (not air temp) is consistently 55 degrees at least. This has been an exceptionally cool start to spring so most likely you were not seeing crabgrass in your lawn but another weed. If you would like to email us a picture of the weed in your lawn to email@example.com we will be able to better diagnose what is going on and help you fix it. Thank you, Jonathan Green

In response to the July 15th post - We do not recommend applying Crabgrass Preventer plus Green-Up now (in the middle of the summer). Crabgrass plants are already matured and established and will not respond to the control. The crabgrass plants will die in the first frost in the fall. You can use Lawn Weed Control but if the daytime temps are consistently 85 degrees and higher we do not suggest using it as it can further stress the lawn in those temps. Thank you, Jonathan Green

This product is amazing, in just 2 weeks after applying it my lawn looks so much better than ever before. I plan to continue with the 4 step process through out the year and expect to have the best lawn ever. I am very happy with the results.

My local nursery told me that exact same thing, and I also live in New England. Have been using the 4-step product for 6 or 8 years now, and won't go to any other brand.

How long after I apply Grabgrass Preventer Plus Green UP can I put out some Black Beauty Grass seed?
January 16, 2014
I just purchased this product and have not used it yet. The directions do not mention if the lawn should be watered down prior to using? It only mentions the lawn should be cut down and watered next day or next two days. Please get back to me asap since I wish to try this product.

I had quite a bit of crabgrass growing in my backyard, so I thought this would help. Put it down on April 14, and a month later seems to have had no effect on the crabgrass, which is still going strong.

I live in Mass I put this product down on April 15 and now I can see crabgrass growing on the south side of my lawn. Can I reapply and if I can how long after first application?

Can you use the crabgrass preventer in the middle of summer while the crabgrass is growing? Also, will it affect the use of lawn weed control to kill the broadleaf weeds?
