I have been using J. G. Winter Survival (as instructed) for the past 5 years, and I am totally impressed with the results I've been experiencing! My lawn is full right into winter with great color, and as soon as the weather breaks in early spring, my lawn looks beautiful! I can't say enough about this product. E.C. Old Bridge, NJ

can i use magical winter survival and seed all at once if so i want to use it now am i to late

In response to the last review - yes you can apply Mag-I-Cal and Winter Survival at the same time. It is not too late to put either of these products down. Just be aware that some states have cut off dates for fertilizer applications. In New Jersey homeowners cannot apply fertilizer to their lawns after November 15. Please check with your local extension agent to see if any restrictions apply in your town. Thank you!

I plan on using Mag-I-Cal and Winter Survival this year. Its Aug. 25 and was wondering when I should apply these 2 products. I know you can apply them at the same time but don't want to put it down to early. Also should you apply it only once or can/should you do it twice before the winter? Thanks, Central, NJ.

In response to the August 25 post - You can apply Winter Survival and Mag-I-Cal now and then again around Halloween. We always recommend waiting 6-8 weeks between fertilizer applications. Doing the second application before the cold sets in will really help your lawn get through the winter months. - Jonathan Green

So its now Halloween and in a few days I am going to put down the 2nd round of Winter Survival and Calcium. I just turned off my sprinklers so do I have to wait until it rains or can I just go ahead and do it? Thanks, Central, NJ

In response to the October 30th post - You can go ahead and apply the Winter Survival and Mag-I-Cal now. It will be good to get it down before the rain to help it get into the lawn. Thank you, Jonathan Green

I have the winter survival ready to go down, as well as some black beauty mix. is it ok to put these down at the same time? and should it go down before or after rain? We use well water, so we try to plan on watering in with rain when possible. Love the Jonathan Green products too!

In response to the August 21st post: You may spread seed and apply Winter Survival on the same day. It would also benefit your lawn to apply Love Your Lawn-Love your Soil on the same day. The seed must be kept moist for 30 days to ensure good establishment and survive the winter.

I used this recently after hearing the CEO of JG on Lou Manferdini Mr. Fix it show in Chicago. The JG story intrigued me. I fount the product at Ace Hardware, and saw that the lighter amount of Nitrogen allowed seeding. Seems to be working fine. Only quibble is that My Scotts spreader was "Stuck ON". When I got to the bottom of the material, I found a larger than normal piece ofr fertilizer stuck in the opening. I cleaned it out and started the 2nd bag, only to have the same thing happen again. This is an annoyance, but also makes me doubt my spread rate.
