We are a leading supplier of grass seed, soil enhancers, fertilizer and organic lawn and garden products to professional customers, like sod growers and independent retailers, such as garden centers and hardware stores.
A family business with a turfgrass research farm in Oregon and distribution throughout the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Mid-Western United States.
If you want a great looking carefree lawn, we can help you to achieve success!
We are a major supplier of grass seed, organics, and turf products to both the independent retailer and professional lawn care markets.
In our own breeding program we have developed superior turf grasses, such as those found in our Black Beauty grass seed mixtures.
We are also a leader in organics, and have developed an environmentally sound approach to lawn care that we call the New American Lawn Plan.
The New American Lawn Plan combines genetically superior Black Beauty grass seed mixtures with soil amendments, such as Mag-I-Cal, to adjust soil pH levels.
It also includes Love Your Soil, to deal with soil compaction, and a family of organic and traditional lawn fertilizers and weed control products.
By following this balanced lawn care program you will be addressing the root of your lawns problems, instead of battling the symptoms such as weeds, insects, and turf disease.
Our goal is to stimulate and nourish your soil, creating a more biologically healthy foundation that will naturally resist most lawn problems, and allow your Black Beauty lawn to thrive.
“Once you have seen a Black Beauty lawn, you will never forget it.”
Feed Your Lawn, Feed Your Soil
If you’ve yet to achieve your dream landscape, the solution to your problems is likely to be much easier than you might imagine.
For instance, many lawn issues will be remedied by introducing superior grass seed varieties.
These improved turfgrasses are naturally dark-green in color, and contain beneficial endophytes for natural insect and disease resistance without the application of man-made pesticides.
If you have a lawn where weeds, disease or insects are a significant problem, then traditional lawn care chemicals may be necessary to initially address these problems.
However, we recommend eventually focusing on creating a more healthy soil to feed your grass and boost its defenses!
Here’s an analogy for your consideration:
Imagine that you feel ill and go to the doctor and he tells you that you have the flu.
To cure the flu they prescribe antibiotics.
After the immediate illness has been eliminated, they suggest that you build-up your resistance to future health problems, by getting more, sleep, eating healthy and getting exercise.
Moving from chemical based products to organic ones follows the same line of reasoning. We want to give you a thick and healthy lawn to help ward off problems before they start!
