Real Corn Gluten Weed Preventer Lawns
Product Overview
The key factor in achieving great weed control results with this product is the proper timing of the first application. This weed control must be spread on established turfgrasses before the weeds germinate because it is only effective before weeds break the surface of the soil. Do not use this product when seeding because it will hinder the new grass seedlings from germinating. Based upon the organic nature of Corn Gluten Weed Preventer it may take a few seasons to control severe weed populations.

Use With Other Products
This product can safely be applied with any of our soil amendment products. We don’t recommend applying two of our weed controls or fertilizers together, as you risk burning your lawn. You can, however, apply two of these products together if one has fertilizer and the other one doesn’t. The rule of thumb is: if two products have different functions, it is usually possible to apply them together.
Apply to Dry or Damp Lawn

Although Corn Gluten Weed Preventer plus Lawn Food is safe for kids and pets, it works best when applied, watered in, and allowed to dry for 2 to 3 days.

90% Slow release: feeds the lawn for 2 – 3 months.
How Often to Apply
For improved weed control and greening apply up to 4 times a year: in early and late spring, and early and late fall.
Shelf Life
Our recommendations for storing your weed control:
Place it in a cool dry place, off of the ground, out of direct sunlight, and keep it away from moisture. Keep bags (especially that have already been opened) containing unused product in a locked storage area inaccessible to children and pets. Do not store near feed or foodstuffs.
To prevent cross-contamination, do not store near open containers of fertilizer, seed or other pesticides. Under these conditions, weed controls will last at least two years.

How to Apply
Apply
For Lawns:
- We recommend using a spreader to evenly distribute the product onto your lawn.
- Check to make sure the spreader opening at the bottom of the hopper is closed.
- Set the spreader according to the recommended setting on the packaging or use our Spreader Settings Tool above.
- Apply around the perimeter of the lawn to establish a turning area. Then run the spreader back and forth within the area outlined by your first perimeter application. Always allow overlap to avoid gaps in coverage.
For Gardens:
- Spread Corn Gluten Weed Preventer on the surface of the soil after flowers or other plants have been planted.
- Do not till it in. Incorporating this product into the soil will hurt the roots of the flowers, vegetables, and landscape plants in the garden.
Post-Application
- Sweep any excess granules off of hard surfaces and back onto the lawn.
- For best results, irrigate the treated area after application for 15 to 30 minutes and then allow it to dry for 2 to 3 days. Excessive rainfall or irrigation may require re-application for effective weed control.
- Do not seed for 60 to 90 days after application.
