Product Overview
Jonathan Green Organic Lawn Food is a complex, entirely organic lawn fertilizer that promotes the growth of healthy grass. The homogenous, easy-to-spread granules contain food-grade organics such as feather meal, soybean meal, and blood meal. Organic Lawn Food has no undesirable manures or sludge-based fertilizers, unlike many other organic grass fertilizer products. It can be used on both established and newly seeded or sodded lawns in the spring, summer or fall.

Organic grass fertilizer has many perks! Not only is it better for the environment, but it is also safe for kids and pets. Furthermore, due to the absence of fast-release synthetic ingredients, this fertilizer won’t burn the grass, even when applied in summer.

How Do I Calculate My Lawn Size? First measure the length and width of your lawn. Then multiply the length by the width and deduct the square footage of any non-lawn areas (landscape bed, patio, deck, pool, etc.) from the total. Now you know how much product you need to purchase!

Returns

  • We offer 30-day free returns for replacement or full refund for items that are damaged or defective (shipping included). If damaged by the carrier, please file a claim with them.

Don’t Forget These Essentials

  • Apply anytime between spring, summer or fall.

     

    Organic Lawn Food can be applied the same day you seed or lay sod. For grass seed to germinate, soil temperatures must be at least 55°F, and air temperatures should not exceed 75°F.

  • 10-0-1

  • Nitrogen, Soluble Potash, Calcium, Sulfur, and Iron. Derived from: Feather Meal, Soybean Meal, Blood Meal, Sulfate of Potash and Calcium Carbonate.

  • Apply as needed in the spring, summer or fall. If this is the only fertilizer you plan on applying all year, we recommend spreading twice (once in spring and once in fall).

  • 90% Slow release: feeds the lawn for 2 – 3 months.

  • Our straight and organic lawn fertilizers can be applied with any of our grass seeds and soil amendments.

     

    We don’t recommend applying two of our weed controls or fertilizers together, as you risk burning your lawn. You can, however, apply two of these products together if one has fertilizer and the other one doesn’t. The rule of thumb is: if two products have different functions, it is usually possible to apply them together.

  • Apply Organic Lawn Food to a dry lawn a day or two after mowing.

  • Organic Lawn Food is a natural lawn fertilizer, meaning it is safe for children and pets to re-enter the lawn immediately after application.

  • Our recommendations for storing your organic lawn fertilizer:

     

    Place it in a cool dry place, off of the ground, out of direct sunlight, and keep it away from moisture. Keep bags (especially that have already been opened) containing unused product in a locked storage area inaccessible to children and pets. Do not store near feed or foodstuffs.

     

    To prevent cross-contamination, do not store near open containers of fertilizer, seed or other pesticides. Under these conditions, fertilizer will last at least two years.

    • Carefully read all instructions prior to application
    • Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water after handling and before eating or drinking
    • Do not apply near water, storm drains, or drainage ditches.
    • Do not apply if heavy rain is expected.
    • Apply this organic grass fertilizer only to your lawn or garden and sweep any product that lands on the driveway, sidewalk or street back onto your lawn or garden.
    • Be aware of local ordinance requirements concerning lawn fertilizer applications. “Black out” dates may limit or prohibit lawn fertilizer applications from late fall to early spring in certain areas.

  • Always read and follow the product label before use.

How to Apply

Apply

  • We recommend using a spreader to evenly distribute organic grass fertilizer onto your lawn.
  • Check to make sure the spreader opening at the bottom of the hopper is closed.
  • Set the spreader according to the recommended setting on the packaging or use our Spreader Settings Tool above.
  • Push the lever forward only when ready to spread.
  • Apply fertilizer around the perimeter of the lawn to establish a turning area. Then run the spreader back and forth within the area outlined by your first perimeter application. Always allow an overlap to avoid gaps in coverage.

Post-Application

  • To avoid staining, sweep any excess granules off of hard surfaces and back onto the lawn.
  • Irrigate the treated area after application for best results.
  • Once watered, wait a day to mow the lawn allowing the product time to activate.
