About Tall Fescue
Tall Fescue is a cool-season grass that has been the grass seed of choice in the mid-Atlantic and northeastern states for nearly 30 years and for about the last decade in the Midwest and far-western states like California. It is adaptable to a wide range of climates, is disease resistant, and tolerates heat, cold, drought, and shade very well.
Black Beauty® Original Grass Seed – This original Jonathan Green grass seed blend contains three Tall Fescues and is grown by sod growers across the USA. It grows roots up to 4′ deep and produces a naturally darker-green turf with improved disease resistance and drought tolerance thanks to a waxy leaf coating that helps preserve moisture and wards off stress from heat, cold, wind and disease. This blend grows well in clay or sandy soils and in full sun or partial shade, with seed germination in 10 to 20 days.
Black Beauty® Ultra Grass Seed contains a mixture of exclusive, elite varieties of Tall Fescue, Kentucky Bluegrass and Perennial Ryegrass and is also grown on sod farms. These cool season grasses grow a naturally dark-green and beautiful lawn with excellent heat and drought tolerance. Black Beauty® Ultra Grass Seed germinates in about 14 days and will improve any lawn it is seeded into.
Black Beauty® Sunny Grass Seed is a grass seed mixture that provides a long-lasting lawn of the highest quality in stressful, sunny growing conditions. Black Beauty® Sunny Grass Seed contains Black Beauty Tall Fescues and the highest rated, endophytic turfgrass varieties that deter damage from insects. It grows well in full sun, germinates in 10 to 14 days, and is deeply rooted for superior drought tolerance.
Black Beauty® Dense Shade Grass Seed grows in shady areas and dry soils where other seed mixtures have failed. It contains several grass types for species diversity, including Black Beauty Tall Fescues, and naturally insect-resistant endophytic turfgrass varieties that help deter pests. This mixture can thrive in both medium and densely shaded areas.
Black Beauty® Heavy Traffic Grass Seed is a hardy mixture designed for tough areas with lots of foot traffic. The Tall Fescues and Perennial Ryegrasses offer quick cover and excellent abrasion resistance. It will be perfect anywhere that children and pets play. It germinates in 10 to 14 days.
