Check out our easy spreader settings guide to help determine the best setting for you.
If your spreader is not listed in our guide, use this rule of thumb to determine your spreader setting:
- Place enough material in the hopper to cover 1,000 square feet. Place your spreader setting on a low setting (usually one-fourth of the spreader setting range or less). Spread the material over a 50 x 20-foot area (1,000 square feet). If there is material left over, increase your setting. If you come up short, decrease your setting. While this is not a scientific method, it will put you in the ballpark.
- Keep in mind that it is always better to under fertilize than to over-fertilize and risk damage to the lawn.
