Organically fed lawns have stronger, deeper roots that can withstand environmental stress and pests.  They grow so thick that no room is left for weeds to invade. Learn how to use purely organic lawn food from the professionals at Jonathan Green.

Since 1881, Jonathan Green has specialized in beautiful lawns. Six generations of the Green family have worked to perfect our genetically superior grass seed and our family of lawn and soil care products. Jonathan Green products will transform every aspect of your lawn to help it thrive like never before, and, with our New American Lawn Care Plan, you will find it easier than ever to care for your lawn.

Why Choose Jonathan Green Organic Lawn Food 10-0-1?

When you want the best for your lawn, your family, and the environment, choose Jonathan Green Organic Lawn Food, a high-quality lawn fertilizer that is made from all organic food sources.

Many companies use low-energy manures, such as chicken and turkey manure, as ingredients in their organic fertilizers.  At Jonathan Green, we only use high-energy food-grade ingredients, such as feather meal, soybean meal, bone meal, wheat shorts, and molasses. To enhance the fertilizer’s greening power, it is also fortified with iron and contains NO phosphates.

Organic Lawn Food works over time to strengthen your lawn and give it the nutrients it needs. It also helps improve soil structure and the soil’s water-holding capacity, making it the ideal choice for revitalizing thinning or stressed lawns.

How to Use Organic Lawn Food 10-0-1

Jonathan Green Organic Lawn Food is great for both newly seeded lawns and existing lawns.

If you have an established lawn that is already doing well, spread 20 lbs. of Organic Lawn Food per 5,000 sq. ft.  For newly seeded or thinning lawns, apply a higher concentration of 20 lbs. per 2,500 sq. ft. Spread Organic Lawn Food on dry grass or soil and then water it in. You can apply it any time during spring, summer, or fall, and it will consistently feed your lawn for eight to ten weeks.

Patience is a virtue when you commit to an organic lawn care program. Unlike fast-release chemical fertilizers that are absorbed immediately by the grass leaves, stems, and crown, while bypassing much of the plant’s root system, organic lawn products do not work instantly.

Organic Lawn Food is absorbed by the microbes in the soil and then feeds the grass plants through the roots. Microbes are most active when the soil temperatures are warmer (65 F or higher), which is usually during the months June-September. This helps build deep roots and is how grass plants are meant to fed. Turfgrass without a deep and well-developed root system will succumb more easily to heat, disease, and insect stresses. You can grow better, greener turf by creating better soil – so remember to feed your lawn AND your soil!
