Lawn Feeding Calendar
During the growing season from spring through fall, your lawn, whether established or newly seeded, will perform best when fed four times, with each feeding applied 2 to 3 months apart.
Spring
In early spring, apply Jonathan Green Veri-Green Crabgrass Preventer plus Lawn Fertilizer. It controls crabgrass before and after it germinates and contains the newest technology available, named Dimension® Crabgrass Control Herbicide. Dimension® is clear, odorless and colorless, and won’t stain your hands, walkways, driveways, or the floor of your garage.
In late spring, apply Jonathan Green Veri-Green Weed & Feed Lawn Fertilizer. This combination of lawn food and weed control feeds lawns for up to three months and tackles over 250 broadleaf weeds, including dandelions, chickweed, plantain, and clover. It has a three-way herbicide formula that kills weeds down to the root.
Summer
MAG-I-CAL® Plus Soil Food will help balance the soil pH and, at the same time, loosen hard soil and activate the soil microbial life to help the lawn grow greener and healthier. When the pH is balanced (6.2 to 7.0), the grass will be able to absorb minerals and nutrients that were previously locked in the soil and unavailable to the grass plants.
Another excellent option during the hot, dry summer months (or during spring or fall) is Jonathan Green’s Organic Lawn Food. This complex, fully organic lawn fertilizer will provide excellent nutrition to your lawn for 8 to 10 weeks. It can be used on established and newly seeded lawns or when sodding.
Fall
Broadleaf weeds are still actively growing in the fall, so this is a great time to use a product like Jonathan Green Lawn Weed Control. The improved three-way formula with Trimec® provides broadleaf weed control of more than 200 lawn weeds, including dandelion, clover, chickweed, purslane, plantain, oxalis, spurge, etc. This straight weed control product does not contain any fertilizer, so there’s no possibility of overfeeding the grass.
Winter
In September or October, prepare your lawn for the winter. Winter Survival Fall Lawn Fertilizer is designed to keep your lawn fed through the season so that it’s healthy enough to fend off late winter/early spring turf diseases, such as pink or gray snow mold. Apply it in September and again in November near Thanksgiving. These two feedings will thicken your lawn, promote root growth to help protect it from winter stress, and store nutrients for the spring.
